Description |
Potassium alginate is a salt formed by bonding potassium ions to the carboxyl groups of alginic acid. Its properties are very similar to those of sodium alginate. It dissolves in cold and warm water to form a viscous aqueous solution that gels immediately upon contact with multivalent cations such as Ca2+. It is widely used as a gelling agent in dental impressions and is gradually used in the field of cosmetics. Potassium alginate also has the effect of lowering blood lipids, blood sugar and cholesterol, and can be used in medicine and health food additives. |
