Description

Methoxy gold nanorods are gold nanorods with methoxy groups on their surface. Functionalization of the surface with methoxyl groups provides many advantages, such as providing stability and biocompatibility to the particles. The methoxy groups also play a vital role in preventing aggregation of the nanorods, ensuring their uniform dispersion in solution. In addition, methoxy gold nanorods have precisely engineered surface chemistry that renders them inert in most applications. This inert property makes these nanorods excellent control samples when used in conjunction with one of our other functionalized nanorods. In applications where the nanorods are not used as controls, the surface chemistry allows them to be used in solutions with much higher salt concentrations.
