Description

Silica sol is a cheap colloidal solution of nano-scale polymer inorganic polymetasilicic acid with water as dispersion medium. It is a thermodynamically unstable system that relies on electric charge or some other stabilizers to assist dispersion. Changes in conditions may cause flocculation, clumping or gelation. Surface modification of water-based silica sol by modifiers such as organosilicon coupling agent can obtain more stable and uniformly dispersed modified silica sol, and develop some new application fields.
