Overview
Description

Streptavidin quantum dots are obtained by covalent coupling between streptavidin and CdSe and CdSe/ZnS core-shell quantum dots with functional groups. Streptavidin is a slightly acidic (pH6.0) protein purified from the bacterium Streptavidin, which can bind to tetramolecular biotin with high specificity, and the affinity between the two is extremely strong. Thus streptavidin-labeled quantum dots can bind biotinylated molecules such as proteins, DNA and peptides and be used for trace detection and functional studies.
