Description |
α-cellulose is a homogeneous polymer composed of D-glucopyranosyl groups linked by 1,4-β glycosidic bonds. In addition to the two end groups in the α-cellulose molecule, each glucose group has three hydroxyl groups. The average degree of polymerization is about 10,000. Due to the polarity of the cellulose hydroxyl groups, water can enter the amorphous region and limited swelling of the crystalline region occurs. Some aqueous solutions of acids, bases and salts can penetrate into the crystallization zone under certain conditions, resulting in infinite swelling and dissolution of cellulose. α-cellulose is cellulose raw material immersed in 17.5% or 18% sodium hydroxide solution at 20°C. After 45 minutes, the insoluble part is α-cellulose, and its degree of polymerization is very large. Because the fibers are strong and tough, the formed filter aid layer should not be peeled off and cracked. In addition, because it has a certain electrostatic adsorption effect, it can improve the filtration efficiency. |
