Overview |
Description |
Sodium alginate is a linear polymer extracted from brown algae or Sargasso organic solvents such as ether. Sodium alginate dissolves in water to form a viscous colloid. After absorbing water, its volume can increase by 10 times its original volume. The viscosity of its aqueous solution varies mainly with the degree of polymerization and concentration. Sodium alginate is more stable in dry powder state than in solution state. As a natural polymer hydrosol, sodium alginate has many characteristics such as good water solubility, non-toxicity, easy degradation and good biocompatibility, and has a good synergistic effect with other colloids. Therefore, it has huge application value in various industries such as medicine, food, packaging, textile industry, and biological materials. |
